Travel Vaccinations
If you are travelling abroad, please contact the practice at least 8 weeks before your departure date if you think you may need NHS travel vaccinations.
Step 1 – Travel Health Advice
For general travel health advice, we recommend consulting a private travel clinic. You can also find information on the NHS website:
https://www.nhs.uk/vaccinations/travel-vaccinations/travel-vaccination-advice/
If, after reviewing the advice, you believe you require any of the NHS-funded travel vaccines listed below, please let us know.
NHS travel vaccines include:
Hepatitis A
Typhoid
Polio
Cholera
Step 2 – Complete a Pre-Travel Questionnaire
If you require NHS travel vaccinations, we will send you a Pre-Travel Questionnaire to complete.
Once you have returned the questionnaire, we will send you details of how to book your travel vaccination appointment.
Please allow at least 1 week between submitting your questionnaire and attending your appointment. This gives our clinical team time to review your travel plans and determine which vaccinations you need.
Appointment Availability
We recommend contacting us at least 4 weeks before you travel to give enough time for your assessment and any vaccinations you may need.
If you contact us 4 weeks or more before your departure and no dedicated travel appointments are available, we will try to offer you the next suitable appointment. If we are unable to do so, we will advise you to contact a local private travel clinic.
If you contact us less than 4 weeks before your departure and we do not have appointments available, you will need to arrange your travel vaccinations through a private travel clinic, as we may not have sufficient capacity to provide your vaccinations before you travel.
Please note that not all travel vaccines are available on the NHS. Any vaccines that are not NHS-funded will need to be obtained through a private travel clinic.
Health Promotion
We follow the national guidelines for health promotion and target particular at risk groups. We also run a regular cervical smear screening service for which you will receive a letter of invitation if appropriate.
Family Planning
Please see your doctor who will be able to provide a full range of services, including emergency contraception. Those wishing to consider having a coil or an implant fitted for contraception please submit an online triage form then this will be discussed and a fitting appointment arranged.
